It Should Just BE Better Already

Posted by Lesley J. Hancock on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, In : Business as Usual
It can be difficult to keep your head up when people are knocking you down.  It can be even more difficult to value yourself when others treat you in inhumane ways or proclaim hate as a 'family' value.  Remember this and the rest you can discard:  You are beautiful and precious and one day the world will kick itself over how it has allowed you to be treated.  You are loveable.  You are loving.  You are loved.  And we wouldn't dream of making you into someone that you are not.

We wish we could ...

RAY is Here For YOU!

Posted by Shannon Frye on Monday, March 19, 2012, In : Business as Usual
Some of you have been calling, e-mailing, and finding me on Facebook to ask one question:  Will RAY be meeting tonight?  Unfortunately, RAY is staffed completely with volunteers that may or may not have the opportunity to updater you each week about our meeting topics; sometimes we have to change plans because an activity is organized around having a certain number of people involved or an AV gets sick and has to be replaced.  As a result, we may not update this blog as much as we would like ...

...And Justice for All?

Posted by Shannon Frye on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, In : Business as Usual
With recent wins in federal district courts, marriage equality is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality.  But what does that really mean for the United States?  How does marriage equality impact our lives from day to day?  What would a world that allows same-sex couples to marry look like to you?

This week at RAY, we will be having a discussion on marriage equality following a viewing of the film "If These Walls Could Talk 2."  We encourage everyone that wishes to know more about thi...

The War Inside

Posted by Lesley J. Hancock on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, In : Business as Usual
Sometimes it can feel as if we are buried beneath the weight of words.  When we use words that hurt, or when words are used to hurt us, it is tempting to try to remove the sting by claiming that they don't mean much:  Remember that old childhood mantra?

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.

At RAY this week, we will begin really looking at what some of those words mean.  Through small and large group discussion, we will look at the words that hurt, the words that con...

No, were not havig a bonfire!  It's our annual Winter Solstice Celebration!

Also, the RAY Resouce Library is back! Books, VHS and DVDs are available during meetings for members. All pieces were created by, for, or about GLBTQ people and their allies.   Great for starting conversations with family...

Posted by Lesley J. Hancock on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, In : Business as Usual

Do holidays drive you nuts?  Are there relatives everywhere you turn?  Do you hate turkey?

Tonight is Bitch Night at RAY!  You will get a chance to vent to an audience about whatever bothers you:  School, relationships, jobs, families, and the upcoming holiday season. Come tonight and enjoy snacks while you're entertained by the sometimes odd but always funny censor-free rants offered by RAY youth.  Also, there are still personal hygiene products available, so take what you need!

Have a great...
