This weekend, June 2 through June
3, is the annual Old West End Festival, a celebration of Toledo’s historic
Victorian neighborhood and local arts scene.
The OWEF features live music, art vendors, great food, a
neighborhood-wide yard sale and tours through beautifully crafted and decorated
homes. The weekend will kick off at
10:00 a.m. on Saturday with the King Wamba Parade; RAY will be marching with
our friends in Equality Toledo, Equality Ohio and Toledo Pride.
It isn’t all glitter and pride
flags: We will be hosting an information
table from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on
Saturday and Sunday. If you’ve ever
wondered about who we are or what RAY offers the community, now is the time to
find out – adult volunteers and youth members will be present to take your
questions and, hopefully, your donations as well.
If you’re a young person and you
are interested in marching with RAY, please attend this Thursday’s
meeting: We will have extra permission
slips and media release forms for you.
We will also be tye-dying shirts to wear during festival weekend to
identify volunteers, so please bring a pre-washed white t-shirt with you.
Be safe, have fun and see you
this weekend!
